UniVibe ("we", "us") connects university students for love, academic collaboration, and friendship. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and how you can control or delete it. It should be read alongside our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.
What we collect
- Account info: your name and email address from Google Sign-In. We never see or store your Google password.
- Profile info: display name, birthdate, gender, university, faculty, year of study, city, religion (optional), and your bio.
- Photos: at least one profile photo is required to use UniVibe; photos are hosted with our image provider (Cloudinary) and are never sold or shared with advertisers.
- Intent & preferences: which of the three intents (Love, Academic, Friendship) you've opted into, and your matching preferences for each.
- Activity: likes, passes, matches, messages, blocks, and reports you send or receive, plus basic recency signals (last active time) used to rank the discovery feed.
How we use it
- To run the discovery feed, matching, and chat features you sign up for.
- To keep the community safe — reviewing reports, enforcing our Community Guidelines, and applying account actions (warnings, suspension, bans) when necessary.
- To send essential account/service emails (never marketing without your consent).
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it to train third-party advertising models.
Who can see what
Your exact location is never shown to other users — only your city or shared university, if you've chosen to display them. If you turn off "Show my photos to others", a generic placeholder image is shown to everyone else instead of your real photos; your own account still always shows you your real photos. Messages are only ever visible to the two people in a match.
Data security
Sensitive data — including your intent settings and messages — is encrypted at rest and in transit, and access is limited to what each part of our system needs to function.
Your rights & deletion
You can edit or remove your profile information at any time from your Profile page. To permanently delete your account and all associated data (profile, photos, messages, likes/matches), contact us and we will process the request in line with applicable data-protection law. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
